First is do you want templates or do you want stock in the 1/2 page and 1/4 page sizes. If cutting paper doesn't bother you then when you enter Avery.com, at top of page click on "templates and software". Then click on shipping label templates. Down the left hand margin there is a list by size and number of items printed per page. Use the Postcard template for 1/4 page signs and for 1/2 page signs go down that left hand margin until you see where it says Number of items printed per page. Click on 2. There are 9 different templates that print out 2 items per page. Then choose whether you want portrait or landscape type. Hope this answers your question!

If you are using Word you can save one of your exsisting signs as a template and open it and edit what you need. For the 1/2 page set up a table with 2 rows of one cell. Set your page margins to 0 (zero) and expand it to fit the whole page set your font style and size and save as a tempate. For the 1/4 page set up a table with 2 rows of 2 cells and expand to fit the whole page. Be sure to format the cells without boarders unless you want the borders as cutting guides.

I don't really use a "template" persay. One of the things I do is to set my pages on a sheet of paper and measure what would be the margins on the whole sheet of paper. For example, I have a whole sheet of card stock set up to where I can use stickynotes. I then set up on a Microsoft Word page where I have the margins. When I need to use a particular sized sticky note, I put the piece of on the template sheet and pull up on line the blank page and fill it out. I then run it through the printer on the sheet bypass. In essence, hyou can do this with your signs. Just make adjustments to your margins. I will be molre than willing to send you a copy of my "template" if you want to see it.

Plain old packaging tape is the quickest and fastest way to protect them. Contact paper is fine if you have only a few to do or a particularly large area to cover.

You could try 2X4 clear labels (#8663) folded in the middle so that about 1/2 of the label goes on the back. That will keep them from getting raggedy and reinforce the folder too.

Question

Concerning Avery label #5164

I have used this style of labels for a long time. Lately, when I pull up the template for this label (6 on a page) I don't get the outline of the labels on the screen like I used to. I have to go into the "borders" tool and add lines (horizontal and vertical) and then remove them before I print the labels. Am I doing something wrong? All I get is a blank page and it is very hard to determine where the printing should start on each label without having the outlines to work with.

The response depends on which version of MS Word you are using. For example, in Word 2007, click anywhere in the table (or where you think the table is) and the Table Tools will come up on the top right. In the Layout tab, the far left box called "Table," click on "View Gridlines." Clicking on this toggles the gridlines on and off.
If I remember right, for earlier versions of MS Word, if you right click anywhere you think the table is, "Table Properties" should be one of the options. Or hunt through the menus and find "Table Properties." You should still have the option to toggle the gridlines on or off.
As to why you had the gridlines before and not now, you probably accidently turned off the gridlines at some time.

Especially with the 2x4 size you are using, I have had very good success just using the 2 inch wide clear packaging tape that is economically available everywhere -- even in dollar stores. This tape application has even worked pretty well outdoors for things like garden signs.

Hint: Since ink-jet labels can bleed when wet, I often use the same clear tape to protect mailing labels on packages and parcels I am mailing or shipping!

I've used the name badge labels with the gold border. They look great on the jars and Word already has a built-in template for them which makes it easy to dress up the font for gifts. I use these labels when I can dill beans, make apple butter, pickle eggs, cocoa mix....pretty much anything I stick in a jar.

Many photo editing software e.g. picasa will allow you to add words or designs to a photo. You will need to select the wallet size on the printer output - make sure individual images are selected if printing out the team. Otherwise select all the same for one sheet for one player. There may be templates for this type of project but you can make your own by following design samples in the Avery templates. I haven't as yet gone through all that's available but they are very adaptable. Find a label template as close to the wallet size photo to do the stats/info for the back of your card. Do a test print of a 2 sided print of photo and stats to check alignment. Note: lettering will be very small when put on a wallet size format!
