You can create a template using your word processing program: Create a new document. Change the page size from 8.5 x 11 to 9 x 11. Set the right margin to very narrow-- mine is set to 0.2". Use a ruler to measure the size of your tabs and create text boxes to match. Line up the text boxes along the right side of the document-- they should 'snap' into a straight line. Change the orientation of the text in the text boxes so it runs up-and-down instead of across. Then copy everything and paste a new identical page for each tab (ie, my template for the 5-tab set is 5 pages long). When printing, I recommend the use of a feeder if your printer has one, and if possible, set your printer to accept 9 x 11 paper.
This probably isn't fool-proof (it took me many tries to discover that my printer will only print these tabs when I set it to 11 x 9 orientation, not 9 x 11 orientation, for a reason I have yet to figure out), but once you get it to work, the tabs look so great once they are finished.
Avery would save its customers some headaches if they would just create a downloadable template... Not sure why one doesn't exist.
