Questions & Answers for AVERY Clear Mailing Labels 18665

Question

How do I make the printing permanent?

An inadvertent wetness on my fingertip led to a discovery that the frosted finish wipes right off, leaving a nice clear label ... but unfortunately the printing wipes off too. Is the frosted finish supposed to easily come off? How do I get the ink to be permanent? Does it need to be "set" in some way? I used 18665 (ink jet full sheet label) in an ink jet printer.

I can't say that I've ever had the issue of having the frosting finish come off! I don't believe it's supposed to do that! You may have gotten a bad batch! Being that ink/desk-jet printers "spray" ink in a set pattern to achieve the design you place in the computer, I'm pretty sure there's no way to make the printing permanent unless you laminate the face after printing. Give the ink around a day to dry enough so as to not wipe away when trying to apply the laminate! Otherwise, you could try printing in a laser style printer, but that works a whole different way & I'm unsure as to what kind of results you'll get.

If using an ink jet printer, it will smear when it gets wet. That's the nature of the ink jet printer.

Download (if it's not already there) the FREE product template through Avery.com. After that, open the template & place whatever you wish to print on it in the window and print when done.
These are designed for an ink/desk-jet style printer which (from experience), work very well! I don't know if they will work with a laser printer, but I don't know any reason that it wouldn't.

These Clear Full Sheet Labels can be formatted by using the templates available at www.Avery.com/Templates and also through Avery design software at www.Avery.com/Software. Select from a variety of pre-designed templates or create your own by inserting pictures, company logos and text. Question

I purchased Avery 18665 labels

I have not tried to use them yet. What I'm hoping is I can use them to make stickers to go on a car window. Will these work? Also, can the image be "mirrored" so the sticker can be placed on the inside of the window? I am hoping to be able to get logo's for military organization that I can add text at the fop or beneath, or wherever.

You can certainly try using them for that purpose and change your printer settings to 'flip' before printing. You can also try our Window Decals, #53212.

Question

Waterproof?

I'm considering using these to make signs for a countertop that might be spilled on. I doubt that they'll be waterproof, but thought I'd check.

I drink a LOT of coffee. I use these quite frequently!! I have noticed that the ink itself will run slightly (so long as the spill is taken care of quickly). Otherwise, there seems to be no ill-effects to the label itself. If the ink ever does run completely off, it's just as easy to either print another one, or just write in magic marker on the label there!
