Questions & Answers for AVERY Weather Proof Mailing Labels 5520
Question
How can I remove the adhesive?
I like these labels very much and I use them on various glass jars. But once I remove the label, I end up with some adhesive on the glass that is very hard to remove. Can you recommend any solvent that will do the job?

Well, this is exactly the point: which adhesive remover? I tried alcohol, Goo-Gone (citrus based), Goof-Off (Acetone, Xilene, etc), and more. None really worked. What worked best was either non-acetone nail lacquer remover or house ammonia. Either softened the adhesive enough that it could be scrapped with a knife blade, but it is slow and tedious work.

Question
Which adhesive remover to use for removing adhesive residue from weather proof labels?
Avery, please provide the name(s) of adhesive remover(s) that can be used to clean off the residue left after removing the weather proof labels. I have to replace ~200 plant labels (on stainless steel plates) and must have a method for cleaning off the residues so new labels can have a clean surface on which to adhere.
