Sorry, but the 5389 isn't supported for merge. One workaround would be to merge your data onto clear labels and apply them. Another option is to carefully use the label template for 8126 and merge using Avery Design & Print Online (at www.avery.com/print) or using the Avery Wizard (at www.avery.com/wizard). You'll have to be careful that it aligns on your postcard project correctly - this template is slightly larger.

Sounds like you may need to enable the gridlines in order to see the actual card or label cells. If the template looks like a blank page, select Table Tools > Layout > Show Gridlines to view the template layout.

Question

Thickness?

What is the thickness of this postcard? To meet the USPS requirements for First Class Mail Postcards it must be no thicker than .016 inch thick. It would help customers to have this info stated on each item online.

For best results, we recommend using Avery Design & Print Online at www.Avery.com/Print. This online software takes you step by step through the process of selecting a template, customizing it and printing out your finished project. The template for product# 5389 (postcards) shows 2 cards per page. Use the 'Front of Card' and 'Back of Card' option buttons to easily design both sides of your postcards. Projects can then be saved either online to your MyAvery account or directly to your computer. Plus this design software does not require any downloads. Question

How do I place an InDesign file in the template.

Whether I download the 4x6 postcard and save it or select Open with Indesign, the template gets saved as a Word document and InDesign CS5 will not recognize it. Is there some trick to this? I don't get a Save As choice; if I click on Save I have no control over where it ends up. In the software selection below, InDesign does not appear. I do not use Word. I am a designer, not a word processor.

Question

Import World Document?

I want to use an existing 25 page Word document and print it out onto the postcard template (to make small booklets of information). I can get the document looking perfect, but when I print it out, it prints on landscape mode. Changing the orientation to Portrait makes the "postcard" flip so that the short edge is on the top. The online "Design and Print" option will only import Excel files, and cutting and pasting from Word will not allow me to format the text (it is set to a default of 20, when the original is 11 (I change it before starting, but when I paste in the text, it reverts to the default). Downloading the template into Word means that when I select the document and paste it into the template, only one postcard is shown, and the entire document attempts to paste into that.

Is there any way to paste text from an existing document onto postcard-sized paper?
