Questions & Answers for AVERY Print Address Labels from Your Mailing List

Question

I use MS Outlook, Word, and Excel...which is the best place to spring forth a mail merge list and why?

My lists so far seem to be under 50 names . I use a "table" in Word and highlight each address to print one envelope at a time. Thanks for any comments.

First, I cannot advise anything on Outlook; I've used it and hate it, so no longer have anything to do with it.
Most of my mail merge labels are produced using Word, and I have also used Excel which is somewhat easier, but since most of my address files are in Word, I just use them as is. I use the Avery Wizard. What works for me is rearrange the table into a single column, add a blank row at the head of the column and name the cell lines with those corresponding to the addresses below; i.e., Name, Address 1, Address 2, City, State, Postal Code, Country (if other than my country). Using the Wizard, I then follow the directions given in this article. It works everytime. The reason for adding the row at the top is the data from the first address cell will be omitted from the created document and will have to be added in at the end of the doc. at the print preview time, but the order of your list will be out of sync. with the addresses in your table.

For Excel, having colums named like the address label names (above) and selecting those column names as the label contents is just as easy, if your file is so arranged.

'Hope this answers your question if you've not yet found your solution.

Avery DesignPro for MAC is created for MAC computers and is a great tool in customizing projects. This software is compatible with MAC OSX Leopard. Also, use Avery Design & Print Online that doesn’t require any downloads.

You can accommodate more than three lines when formatting the Avery address labels. You may need to adjust the line spacing and also select "remove space" before and after paragraphs. Then change the font size to accommodate the number of lines that are required.

For best results, we recommend transferring your information to an Excel spreadsheet (Once the label or card cells are formatted, use the Sort function on the Layout menu to alphabetize the contents. The contents can be alphabetized vertically or horizontally based on the options you select), and using the mail merge feature available through Avery Design & Print Online at www.Avery.com/Print to import that data into a template. This online software takes you step by step through the process of selecting a template, using the 'mail merge' function to import your data, customizing your design and then printing. Your projects can then be saved either online to your MyAvery account or directly to your computer. Here is a link with additional information on this online software and instructions on how to use the mail merge feature: http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/De....
