There are several templates for name badges that Avery carries. I used three different types for an event I had March 2010. Lanyard, pin and clip style. You can either follow the inrtuctions on the box or go to Microsoft Word and find the Avery template by the number Avery provides on the box of the badges. Very simple and nice quality.

Yes, I use them to make the Fire Chiefs and Assistants business cards. Great for when they go to a meeting or conference and just before they leave they want more cards. It takes only minutes to make up and they are not waiting for me to design the business cards from scratch again. Love the ease of the template and the ease of double sided cards.

If you type "name badge" or the Avery product number on your box of name badges in the search box, you will see results for name badges. You can click on the list on the left to narrow the results. All our templates are completely customizable, so you can format it for your specific event. If you have a large event and want to merge the names in from an Excel list, download the Avery Wizard at www.avery.com/wizard and we have a YouTube video that shows how to do this at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFd_...

Avery does offer several templates for name badges. What is the size of your badge? In the search field enter the size of your badge. For example: name badge insert for 2-1/4 x 3-1/2 The page will display the name badges along with a link to the templates. I was looking for a template for name badge 74549. Turns out to be the same as Avery 5390 on label options on Microsoft Word labels. So, if you have Microsoft Word, go into envelopes and labels. Click on the labels tab. Then click on Options. This will show all the label templates available. You will probably find your label size there. Hope this helps.

Yes, I use the templates from Avery and also the ones in my MS Publisher. But, for EXACT settings, when it really matters, I use Avery. I change the template name after I download to reflect the different uses I create--that way, I keep the settings separate and I can fine the particular file type I am currently using for business, church and home projects. No muss, no fuss with having to rescale graphics, etc.

The most likely options would be the "CD/DVD Labels, 2 per sheet plus 4 spine labels" that are compatible with the following Avery labels: 15692, 18692, 28669, 5584, 5692, 5697, 5698, 5931, 6692, 8691, 8692, 8699, 8931, 8942, 8962, 2204. There are muliple templates for DVD's. There are blank DVD label templates as well as some that have designs. You can find a list of all of the available templates by searching for DVD labels in the search window at the left of Avery home page.

We have several printers at our church, and depending on what you are printing, you can choose any of the printers. So you have to know how the printer prints in order to use it. Simply take a new piece of paper and write "top front" on the new sheet. Put it in the paper tray on top, towards you, with the mark on top. Open Microsoft Word or Notepad, and type "top front" and print to the printer you want to use. Once it prints, see if the two match up. If they do, you know the top of the paper goes towards you. If it is off, either turn it over, or make trials until the two marks come out in the same place. Now you know how to put the sheet of Avery labels in to make it work. I made some small Avery labels describing how the printer works, such as "prints on top of sheet, front towards you" and another "prints on bottom of sheet with top towards you" and put these on the appropriate printer. Now when we print bulletins or whatever it is easy to know how to load the paper.

Using the Avery stock of your choice, look at the sheet and see where the arrows are for placing in the printer. Depending on how your printer feeds, you will need to make sure that you place the stock into the printer so that printing will be on the correct side. Do not place too many sheets in the printer, just to make sure the sheets do not stick together.

I use multiple printers in my business and find that each printer is set up differently. On each printer I did a test print but first I made a mark in a specific corner on the exposed surface of the paper in the tray. When the printing completed, I used my Avery Post It notes to make a reminder for paper placement for that particular printer and placed it on the top cover. Each time before I print from that particular printer I check my "cheat sheet" then proceed.

It's best to feed them through your printer's manual feed tray. There should be an icon on it that shows whether to place them face up or face down. You can run a practice sheet of plain paper through first and just mark it "up" on one side and then you can see which side prints. When you click print, the printer dialog box has options to choose the manual feed tray and to choose to print on label stock instead of plain paper. There should also be a Help button if you want more information on your specific printer.

Name badge (adhesive) : Do these use a special kind of glue that differs from regular labels?

I need the largest adhesive name label I can find. This is what my local store carries: Self-Adhesive Name Badge Labels, White, 2 1/3" x 3 3/8". Is there a larger size available? Can I use a shipping label instead? Do the use a differnt glue on them. I don't want the tags to mess with people's clothes. I would use the name badges/plastic with pins but I don't want people to have to poke their clothes either. IS there another alternative for a plastic insert that say clips on?

I have used AVERY Clip style name badges in the 3x4 size, item number 5384. They look great and have a swivel type clip, so you can attach them any where and just swivel the card which ever way you need to view. I have used regular address/shipping labels as name tags, they do not stick as well as the ones made for clothing, but have not had issues damaging clothing.

I use Sticker Project Paper #3383. 15 sheets to a pkg. I can usually get them on WalMarts online and have them delivered to the Walmart near my home. So it keeps the price down. I use PrintShop and design what I want the label to look like. It is a Full Sheet sticker, so I put several on the page and then I just cut them. I usually put 6 or 8 to a page. I use scalloped scissors so they look pretty. They stick fine to the canning jar and if you don't like the lay out, just peel back up and re-adjust. I also use them for clear food bags that I put my homemade biscotti in... I love this product. I can make a few for Halloween, then a few for Thanksgiving and some more for Christmas using the same pack.
Hope this helps....
