Question
Difficulty importing images into Avery badges. Help me!!!
Question: How do I scan in to my computer images in JPG, JPEG or PNG format; so I can import the images into Avery to place the images on badges, specifically Avery# 74520 badges?
I want to create 100 badges for a class reunion on June 12th. I have scanned one page of 8 classmates into my XP computer, and saved the page of 8 classmates to a file in Microsoft Word 2007.
When I tried to import the page into Avery, the page did not display, apparently because the page had not been saved in a JPG, JPEG or PNG format. That is my dilemma. (Also, I am computer barely literate, so I do not even know what a JPG, JPEG or PNG format is.)
Can you tell me how to scan in my Yearbook pictures of my classmates, so they are saved in a JPG, JPEG or PNG format? That will allow me to import the pictures into my project at Avery.com.

Hello! I can help you with that. Alot of times once you scan a picture, the program will automatically save the picture in a GIF format which isn't really compatiable with alot of other programs. Just follow the steps below and you should be able to save your pictures the way you prefer:
Once you scan the pictures, click on your "Save As" button which is normally located on the top right hand corner under the File (drop down) menu. Once the "Save As" dialog box opens, click on the "Save As Type" drop down menu and select JPEG.
These steps should have allowed you to save the pictures in the correct format to load them onto your badges.
Hope this helps!

when you scan the pictures the save as should have the file format listed. its normally bmp or tif, there should be a dropdown list under the file name to allow you to change the format to jpg.
from what your saying there are more than one person on the page, you can depending on your scanning software select a hot spot of each person and scan it as a single file with the persons name.

The jpg setting is in your scanner software. Somewhere in the setup, it should ask you how you want to save the file. It may default to TIFF if you don't make a different selection, but virtually all scanner software will save files in jpg format.

Scan into MSPaint instead. It is free with all versions of Windows. You can stretch, shrink and crop pictures.
You can save in several graphics formats; one of which is .jpg.

It is best to use MS Publisher or some other graphics program that has labels. MS Word is a document program.
In Publisher , choose the correct label size that you want to use that will allow the picture and your school logo to show large enough.
Create a new label document
Insert and format your school logo into label. Copy and paste the logo into each label template
Insert and format individual pictures. If you have a full sheet of many pictures, you will have to first separate them.
After scanning a picture, a screen should pop up that has "save" and "save as". Use this option and save picture in jpeg form with a descriptive file name..
Crop each individual picture and insert it into a single label.
Insert Text Box and type name of individual.

If your computer has a printer attached that will allow you to scan information into your documents, then you should be able to chose the "Save as" feature to assign the .jpg format to each page of 8 classmates, and to save them into a folder called "My Pictures" for use in your project with the .jpg which tells the computer you have copied an image. The page that you saved into Microsoft Word apparently used the default dot extention of .doc.

Scan photos one at a time, and save them either as jpeg or tiff format. Open your blank name badge template. Go to Insert Picture from file. Your picture will insert directly in the center of the badge. Go to Format/Picture/Layout, and enter either having your picture behind your text, or wrap around text, or no textwrap--whatever your preference is. Then Insert Textbox, and type the name in the text box. You can always manipulate your picture by going to Format/Picture.
